Chris Blackburn of Impellam Group receives high commendation at the 2024 Apprenticeship and Skills Awards

Chris Blackburn, Director of Skills Growth at Impellam Group, was recently recognised as a finalist and highly commended in the Skills Champion category for the Yorkshire and Humber Region at the Apprenticeships and Skills Awards.

Celebrating its 21st year, the awards were created to recognise the accomplishments of apprenticeship students and those who advocate for apprenticeship programs. Judges seek "strong advocates of apprenticeships and skills, who go above and beyond their typical responsibilities to promote these pathways as excellent career options."

Reflecting on the honour, Chris said, “I’m absolutely delighted to have been highly commended in this category. It’s been an amazing journey, and receiving this recognition alongside such inspiring individuals makes it all the more meaningful. Together, we’re promoting early careers, driving change, and helping others find their own way."

This marks Chris’s second recognition in 2024, following the ‘Biggest Impact to the Network’ award from the Yorkshire and Humber Apprenticeship Ambassador Network. He earned the award for his contributions through presentations, career events, workshops, and social media initiatives, aimed at guiding both current and future apprentices.
