Synergy's onsite scientific team provided vital stability analysis for a multinational consumer goods company, ensuring GMP compliance and flexibility for R&D projects across multiple product categories, including hygiene and personal care.

Challenge

A leading consumer goods business faced increasing demand for GMP stability studies and other analytical testing to support a portfolio of R&D projects across multiple product categories, including hygiene, personal care and over the counter medicines.

Internal resource constraints, a need for flexibility and responsiveness, and the constraints of operating within a GMP environment posed problems with both inhouse resourcing and traditional outsourcing.

Solution

Following an in-depth scoping and analysis of the customer challenges, Synergy Scientific Solutions integrated a dedicated team of stability analysts, operating under the supervision of an experienced Project Manager, who quickly took ownership of the planning, delivery and reporting of stability campaigns under the direction of the core product development teams.

Synergy scientists worked to the customer’s SOPs and processes, liaising closely with customer researchers to coordinate activity and prepare for stability timepoints, allowing for client visibility and control throughout.

Members of the team adopted specific roles with regards to training coordination, safety, quality, and audit readiness. By understanding site processes and procedures and forming links across departments and functions including Quality, IT and Analytical Development, the Synergy Team ensured that required methods, LIMS workflows, materials, instrumentation, and trained personnel were in place and available to meet project timescales.

Cross-training, together with a focus on building capability within the team, enabled Synergy to adapt to peaks in demand inherent in stability studies. Planning schedules, levelling resources, and regular reporting to customer stakeholders were instrumental in providing visibility and aiding the planning of future projects.

Outcome

Through working effectively and collaboratively alongside the customer’s own organisation, Synergy Laboratory Management Services continues to support a growing portfolio of projects across different stages of the lifecycle, managing resources in keeping with ever- changing demands.

Individual and team training plans are maintained so that GMP compliance, resource capacity and technical expertise is in place to adapt to and accommodate both scheduled and new campaigns as they arise.

Joint planning and the timely recruitment and training of new team members allows the level of support to flex in response to changing customer requirements.
